About Me

Hello! My name is Brianna and I am from Seattle, Washington in the United States. I moved to Shizuoka, Japan a year ago and I love it here. My hobbies include reading, hiking, playing guitar, video games, and animals of all kinds.

Experience

I have been teaching English at a private conversation school near me for over a year now and I have worked with small groups of people between the ages of 6 to 60. I'm excited to continue teaching here on Cafetalk!

My Teaching Style

 

My teaching style is very student-focused and I believe that it's important to have a great relationship between teacher and student. Because of that, I strive to allow my students to learn English in a non-stressful environment. My main goal is to help students improve their English skills in a setting where I can help you work through your thoughts and ideas, whether that be through grammar and vocabulary lessons or conversation based lessons. I encourage mistakes because I believe they are the best way to learn and improve your skills. I want my classroom to be a safe place to ask questions, get corrections, and have fun while learning.

Our Cafetalk Lessons

I have many different styles of lessons, it all depends on your current English knowledge and also what you want to get out of it! If you’re lost on where to start, I’d like to encourage anyone interested to take my introductory session. This session allows us to get to know each other and allows me to find out your goals and also your English level. From here, what lessons you choose are up to you. I offer short-form and long-form conversation classes where we can chat about any topic that you want. Throughout our conversation, I can help with corrections and pronunciations, as well as answer any questions you may have. 

I also offer grammar and vocabulary based lessons. This kind of lesson helps me establish a starting point where we can figure out where your English knowledge is. It’s more structured than my conversation classes and allows us to use repetition in order for you to gain an understanding. Each lesson, we will work through each step to build on the last thing you learned. We will talk through and go over each part multiple times. Each lesson will include grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary where we will read, listen, and speak through each activity. After we’ve reached a checkpoint, we will then do a review and check on what you’ve learned.
