I have received a CELTA, Cambridge English Level 5 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. In the past I worked as a part-time professor and taught law and legal writing classes for paralegal students.
I think the best way to learn a new language is to discuss the things that interest us. I lived for many years in New York City, and I like to talk about visiting New York and traveling to many other places around the world. I've visited London, Paris, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Vienna, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Wales, Ireland, Israel, Canada, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. I really want to visit Japan next!
My hobby is studying Japanese, and I recently passed the N4 proficiency exam. I practice a little each day, and I have made some wonderful friends in Japan.
Besides studying Japanese and travel, I also enjoy playing guitar and gardening. Other hobbies include reading (especially science fiction, history and travel) and creative writing. I have three dogs, two cats and a turtle, so I am an animal lover, too. I like to talk about books, movies and song lyrics, and to share scary stories and jokes. I enjoy watching NFL, MLB and EPL games. I was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, so I am a big fan of the Indianapolis 500-mile race.
Most important of all: I want every student to feel like the lesson was rewarding and useful. Please let me know what you would like to practice and I will do my very best to create a lesson that focuses exactly on your goals.
