My name is Lena and I am born in Tokyo, Japan but raised in The United States. I learned Japanese first and English as a second language but continued to maintain both languages through pop culture, volunteering at Japanese Saturday schools, and currently work in the field of Japanese language education. I feel that my bilingual skills will help students who need support in either Japanese or English.
My experiences are:
From middle school onwards until 2 years ago: volunteered at local Japanese saturday schools, did teaching assistant for students as young as 5 years of age up to High School for multiple years, and conducted my own class for half a year for beginners Japanese.
Teaching assistant while minoring for Japanese during my college years.
Interned at a Japanese-American broadcasting company, which expanded my ability to converse in business Japanese and understand business Japanese customs.
I've also worked as a tutor for company executives who wanted to learn conversational Japanese.
As you can see with my experiences, I am very flexible with types of topics, discussion, and conversation! We can do lessons in textbook forms or have more of a freestyle discussion! I have many Japanese textbooks so I feel I could adjust to everyone's level! I look forward to hearing for you.
