The dog days of summer

Bettie Ido

This is an expression that keeps running through my mind at this time of summer.  Originally it refers to the rising of the Dog Star in August, but my image is of how dogs behave on hot days.  They just lie around on the ground panting and don't want to move.  This is how I feel now...

Do you know any other ways to describe hot weather?

It's boiling hot!
It's sweltering!
It's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk!
