Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Weekly Topic: I want to buy these shoes next!

Juane

REDUCE
Before we buy a new pair of shoes, we should carefully consider if we really need more shoes. Reducing the amount of items we purchase is the first step towards a healthier relationship with our environment and a more sustainable lifestyle.

REUSE
If we really need a new pair of shoes, then we should consider options like second-hand shops and clothes exchanges, through which we can extend the lifespan of used products without any industrial process or modification.

RECYCLE
If the two previous options are unavailable, then we should choose products that have been recycled in some way. The video I have shared is an example of big brands shifting towards using recycled (or upcycled) materials like plastic.

We should buy new non-recycled products only when these previous options are not possible given the circumstances. Always check the labels for green certifications!
