Olympic games and Kazakhstan

Makpal

At the Tokyo Olympics, Kazakhstan took 83rd place in the team competition with 8 bronze medals. We have been participating in the Summer Olympics as an independent country since 1996. At the previous Olympic Games, the Kazakh national team had at least 1 gold and silver medals. At the Olympics in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, and London 2012, Kazakh athletes won three gold medals, in Beijing 2008 - two, in Athens 2004 - one.

Currently, in Kazakhstan, priority is given to boxing, wrestling, weightlifting. These three sports failed, and we were left without any gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Judoka Eldos Smetov, weightlifters Igor Son and Zulfiya Chinshanlo, freestyle wrestler Nurislam Sanaev, karate fighters Darkhan Asadilov and Sofya Berultseva, boxers Kamshybek Kunkabaev and Saken Bibosynov won bronze medals in Tokyo.

I hope this "achievement" will help our country to rethink its approach to professional sport and in the next Olympics Paris 2024, we will win gold medals.
