If I were a movie character...

Weekly Topic: If you were a movie character, it would be…?

If I were a movie character, who would it be?

I find these questions so tricky...

Would I have a power that is unnatural, or supernatural? Would I be super intelligent, like some precocious doctor on some Netflix series, able to diagnose subtle, yet fatal symptoms through a second's conversation or observation?

Perhaps I'd prefer to choose someone more down to earth, not overly charismatic, nor a natural leader, but likeable none the less, a person you'd want to be friends with, a casual acquaintance, a platonic conversationalist down at the pub.

Then who?

Perhaps narrowing down the genres is the way to go. Could I be me in a spy thriller, a western or a gangster movie? I imagine I'd cease to be me in such settings, be forced to be unlike myself, the me that I'd recognise. Still more so, if I were transpositioned with a Gandalf, a Luke Skywalker or a Paul Atreides.

So what am I left with? A character from a romantic comedy, or a romantic tragedy? Going down in a boat or drinking poison in despair?

Perhaps the RomCom is the safer, less depressing option, but I haven't seen any of note, in more than a few years. Generally, the guys in them seem agile yet awkward, in-tune yet confused. Yeah, I could do that :)
