I‘m currently living in central Kyoto, so it is easy for me to get anywhere in Kyoto. My two favorite places to go are The Imperial Palace Gardens (京都御苑) and Rokkakudo (六角堂).
I enjoy the atmosphere of the trees at the Imperial Palace Gardens, I go there a few times a week, so I see the gradual change of the trees through the seasons. Rokkakudo is small and not as famous as some of the big Kyoto temples, but it has a relaxing and uplifting atmosphere. There are also so many amazingly beautiful statues there. I often go to the nearby Starbucks; I can see the temple through a big picture window. After my coffee I take a walk around the temple.
Every time I go to the supermarket I pass Nijo Castle (二条城), I always think how beautiful it is, especially at dusk. I also love to walk along the Kamo River (鴨川), it is
so relaxing. There is so much to see and do in Kyoto, but these are my favorite things.
