Hello there!

Are you ready for a different way to practice, and learn more English?

In this space, you’ll get a taste of casual, natural English usage: idioms, general slang, internet slang, acronyms and abbreviations!

It’s a different way to study English; are you ready?

Now, on to the post!

- “get a taste of” = an example, a sample of

- “now, on to…” = let’s go to, get to…..

*~*~*~*~

Ahh, The best thing about summer: the warm nights! Why?

  1. Because you can jam out to great music in warm weather without the sun beaming on you!
  2. Evening get-togethers are the best!

A night out enjoying live music - nothing beats live music! Especially if its lively Jazz. There’s just something about jazz, especially from street performers, that is so energizing and matches well with the warm nighttime weather. I definitely recommend places where you can go out and enjoy live music.

Evening get-togethers – BBQ’s! At the beach, in someone’s backyard, or even an Airbnb rental, no matter where, with a great group of people, friends, neighbors, whatever, good food, a variety of food, and any sort of entertainment: music, a TV sporting event, concert DVD watch party; the possibilities and choices are endless! It’s up to you and your interests!

Till Next Time!

So, what did you learn?  See below for the study guide:

"BBQ's" = abbreviation of Barbeque

“Jam out” = to experience enjoyment in a fulfilling way

“Jam out to great music” = to enjoy music enthusiastically: to really enjoy music, as if you were physically feeling it

* “jam” also refers to musicians who are improvising together

“Nothing beats live music” = there’s nothing better than live music

"The Sun beaming on you" = when you are outside while it is very hot; the sunshine is so bright and strong, it feels like it's burning your skin

“Get-together” = a casual social gathering: to visit with friends, usually in a house-setting. It can be anything from a house from one of the friends in the group, to an Airbnb rental during a weekend get-away (small vacation that takes place during the weekend).

Ambiance: an atmosphere or mood created by the environment

S’mores: a very popular campfire desert or snack in America. It’s a “graham cracker sandwich” made of a toasted marshmallow and a piece of chocolate. The marshmallow is toasted over the fire. It’s also popular to do over the backyard barbecue grill and, if inside the house, a gas oven!

*S’mores are very easy to make: First take a graham cracker and place a piece of chocolate on top of it. Then, toast the marshmallow.

You can use a barbecue skewer or even an unbent wire hanger to toast the marshmallow over the fire. Toast it until it's light brown; then place it on the piece of chocolate.

Place another graham cracker on-top of the marshmallow and it’s complete! It’s delicious!
