10,000 Steps Daily for Health

T Mun Yee

For sure, you've to do much more for health than walk, like eating well and getting enough sleep. Logging in the steps is just one of the fun and free ways to attain great health. Besides, with Mother Earth creaking at the joints, walking to your destination when its safe and plausible, will really contribute to her health as well.

Enterprises are tuned in to this growing awareness of healthy lifestyles and tapping into it to promote their brands. For instance, my health insurance provider provides an app which monitors when I consistently achieve a point-target from walking. I then get a pin to redeem cash in my e-wallet. All right, I'm such an 'aunty' for being attracted to small cash incentives. Well, this gang of aunties is surely growing!

Yesterday, I did my walking in Gasing Hill, a precious and treasured tract of forest reserve in the densely populated Klang Valley. I hiked in this green lung, enjoying the fresh air, simply bathing my eyes in the soothing shades of nature. I think I'll adopt the motto, "Have legs, will walk" or "Forest bathing for Health". What do you think?

The photos shared in this post were all taken at Gasing Hill. Enjoy.

Postscript added on 8 Oct 2023: Note: Thank you to those who have written to let me know you enjoy reading my column but daren't take a lesson because there are parts you don't really understand. I assure you we'll always speak at a level which suits you so that we can enjoy a casual conversation. Also, we can go through words and sentences that are difficult so that we learn together. Perhaps, they will be easy then and we'll always have something to talk about. No stress!
