Make your English sound more natural

Description

What are idioms and phrasal verbs?

Idioms are usually defined as groups of words whose overall meaning is different from the meanings of the individual words. So "over the moon" has nothing to do with the literal meaning of "the moon".

Phrasal Verbs consist of two or three words, a base verb and at least one particle. Many phrasal verbs are idiomatic: in other words, the meaning of the phrasal verb is different from the base verb on its own. For example, the meanings of give up and give in,are quite different from the meaning of give.

Why are they important?

Mastering idiomatic expressions and phrasal verbs will make your speech less foreign and more natural. You will also understand more of what you hear and read.

How it works:

Before our lesson, I am going to send you a copy of the idioms and phrasals that will be covered in class. There will be at least 10 of them. During the lesson we are going to practise using them and putting them in the right context. I will ask you a lot of questions where you will be able to use the expressions. This way, the idioms will be activated and it will be much easier to use them spontaneously in the future.
Homework will be provided for those who want some extra work after the Skype lesson.
