Aims:
- To improve students' confidence and fluency when discussing famous feminists
Objectives:
- To encourage students to use a wider range of vocabulary to express their views on Angela Carter's 'The Bloody Chamber' and other feminists using a questionnaire on famous feminists and the main branches of feminism.
- To teach advanced vocabulary in order to improve the fluency of students in debates, historical and polictical discussions and other face-to-face interactions
Lesson Title: Angela Carter, Feminist Writer
Presentation (10 mins): Interactive Storytelling: A Concise History of Feminism
Students will listen to a text on Angela Carter and other famous feminists. I will encourage students to think about the lives of different feminists. I will stop and ask students about the story along the way.
Production (5 mins) : Substitution Exercise. Students will listen to a news article about the statue of Mary Wollstonecraft in London (BBC News). Then students will practice using phrases from the article.
Practice (10 mins): Feminist's Questionnaire - The Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Feminism
Plenary (5 mins): Jumbled up sentences using today's target language and Angela Carter's characters.
Homework: Write ten sentences about your favourite feminist.
