Biography
JACK has transformed the traditional Japanese sound of the shamisen into modern electric music incorporating the use of guitar effects and playing styles.
He has performed all over the world, from his native Japan to countries including America, France, Germany, Mongolia, Ireland, India, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Dubai, Brazil and England. In 2013, JACK played a special performance at Izumo Grand Shrine, the home of Shinto spirits in Japan. In 2014, JACK won silver prize at the Tsugaru Shamisen World Tournament.
He was invited to play music as an offering at Kamigamo Shrine, an Unesco World Cultural Heritage site.
Every year, in addition to 150 live performances JACK composes music for television, film, commercials and theatre. On top of this, Jack has experience working as a musical director for traditional Japanese theatre.
Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary will be celebrated for 1 year from 2nd October this year. As a part of the celebrations, Government of India decided to re-
record Gandhi ji's favorite bhajan (devotional song) in Japanese music and background video.
He was assigned to be the music director of this project. It wasn't an easy task. It was about representing Japan in a totally different way. Getting right kind of people, choosing right music, right instruments, it was all so tough.
He has participated at a live bonsai pruning event with Bonsai Master Masashi Hirao, held for Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of Prime Minister Shinzō Abe, and special guest of honour Mrs. Brigitte Macron, First Lady of the French Republic and spouse of President Emmanuel Macron, invited to a diplomatic meeting at Shikōsō in Tōkyō.
