Hi everyone! I´m Chris from the UK. Let´s chat and learn!
Why am I a teacher?
As a child, I grew up in a house that hosted international English language students, and later in life I was a tour guide in Barcelona, so communicating across cultures and helping English language students learn is something that I have enjoyed doing since I was a kid. Naturally, I eventually became an English teacher.
What qualifications and experience do I have?
I have both a Teaching English Certificate (TEFL) and a Post-graduate Teaching English Diploma (DELTA) from The University of Brighton, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Studies.
I´ve been a teacher for 10 years, and have a lot of experience teaching both adults and children at all levels from beginner to advanced. This has allowed me to develop my own teaching style based on what has worked well for my students over the years.
Who are my lessons for?
My online classes are for adults and teenagers who already have some level of English, and who need it for travel, work, socializing or simply because you like learning English as a hobby. We will focus on communication and speaking, and improve your fluency, pronunciation, accuracy and vocabulary.
About my lessons
I try to make my classes as relevant as possible to you and your personal goals, and while I like to make it intellectually challenging, I also think it´s very important to make your learning experience enjoyable and interesting.
I´m a good listener, easy to talk to, and encouraging. I know what it is like to learn a language because I am a language student myself!
After the class, I send you a copy of our lesson notes, so that you can keep a record and revise later what we covered in class.
Before committing to any classes, you can book a free 15-minute consultation and introduction to decide if these classes are for you. I think it is important that you tell me about your goals and your needs before we begin, and I can prepare the class better beforehand.
About me
I am from the UK, but I now live in the south of Spain.
Why do I live in Spain? I went to Barcelona for just 1 month to do a TEFL course, but I ended up living there for over 6 years. Eventually, I moved to the south and now I live in a small town near Valencia with my partner and my son.
I also have a special love for Japan because I lived in Kanazawa for a year when I was 22 years old, and absolutely loved my time there, considering it to be one of my best years.
And you? Have you ever been to the UK or Spain? Would you like to visit one day?
Hobbies and interests
One of my interests is Spain, its food and its culture. I am also a fan of all music, and I like reading, keeping fit and nature.
My hobbies have changed over the years; while I used to do breakdancing, I then stopped and started doing a lot of rock-climbing. Now I have a family, my hobby is my son. However, I still enjoy exploring the outdoors and walking in the mountains.
I also love meeting people, so naturally I am looking forward to hearing about you, and finding out what hobbies and interests you have too.
