Berserk (ベルセルク) is an ongoing Japanese manga written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura (三浦 建太郎) which unfortunately passed away in 2021. Rest in peace you legend!

The main focus of the story is about a lone swordsman called Guts and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the "Band of the Hawk".

Guts is a lone warrior who was born from a hanged corpse and raised as a mercenary by his abusive adoptive father Gambino. Yeah... it gets even darker from this point on!

In the story no matter what happened Guts never gave up and kept on fighting against all odds. In other words Guts is a struggler and every moment of his existence is filled with hardships and despair, yet he continues pushing forward to his goal.

When I was reading Berserk for the first time I was going through some really hard times in my life and I almost gave up. Even though this is a fictional story, I could find myself in some of the moments Guts was faced with and realized that I must continue no matter what!
