We will read Pre-Socratics, Plato, Aristotle, Galen, Epicurus, and the Stoics.
Description
In this course, we will survey the ancient Greek philosophy from Thales to Aristotle, Galen, and Epicurianism and the Stoics. The texts will be provided via PDF for each lesson. The aim of this course is to have a broad grasp of the ancient Greek and the Hellenistic philosophy in order to understand the later philosophy better. As such, the aim is to prepare us for the Scholastic philosophy as well as Early Modern Philosophy. We will read:
