Playing Go: A Teaching Game

Improving at Go is improving at life.

Description

The game of go is like nothing else!--Come learn.

I have been playing go for many years, and I play at around the 2 kyu to 4 kyu rank.

More importantly, go is famously difficult to teach and to learn.  I have twenty years of teaching experience as a professor, and I have an approachable, casual, energetic teaching style.  I have been coaching go players here in Oregon for two years, and have helped them improve immeasurably.

In this lesson, we will play a teaching game in which I will comment throughout.  We will use the OGS platform to play (https://online-go.com/).  The language of instruction will be English, but I will avoid technical terminology, use simple language, and mostly use the in-game chat for commentary (which you can keep and look back on at your leisure), to make everything more useful for non-native speakers.

If you've never played before, great!--I am good at teaching beginners.  If you have played for a long time, but have been unable to get past 18k or 12k or 8k, great!--I look forward to our game and advancing both of our understanding.
